The New Zealand general election will now be held on Saturday 17 October 2020. You must be on the New Zealand electoral roll if you are eligible to vote.
You can vote from overseas if you are enrolled, and:
- you’re a New Zealand citizen who has been in New Zealand within the past 3 years, or
- you’re a permanent resident of New Zealand who has been in NZ within the past 12 months.
You need to be enrolled by midnight, Friday 16 October (NZ time). You cannot enrol on election day.
How to Vote
Find an overseas voting place. Due to Covid-19 services available will vary depending on your location.
Alternatively, voting papers are available to download from Wednesday 30 September 2020. Papers need to be uploaded by 7 pm on election day (New Zealand time).
