Australian Senator Jacqui Lambie has told the New Zealand Q & A program that she wants Kiwi long term residents of Australia to have the same rights as they used to before the Special Category Visa was introduced in September 1994.

Before 1 September 1994 New Zealanders were granted permanent residency on arrival and had a straightforward process to gain citizenship.
