Speculation is building that Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton will soon challenge Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull for leadership of the Liberal Party. A change of leadership could see an early Federal election, possibly within a few weeks.

If you are eligible to vote, check your enrollment details are up-to-date. Some New Zealanders, who are not Australian citizens, can vote in Federal elections because they were enrolled immediately before 26 January 1984. If you are unsure whether you were enrolled on this date please contact the AEC for assistance.

Voting in Australia is mandatory. Kiwis eligible to vote should do so because it is a right that many New Zealanders are denied, given they have no pathway to citizenship.

Oz Kiwi acknowledges that not all Kiwis can vote, or gain permanent residency. We will continue to advocate for the rights of all New Zealanders in Australia.
