Peter Dutton declares support for Malcolm Turnbull as leadership speculation swirls

Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton has declared his support for Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull after 24 hours of furious speculation about a leadership spill and a dramatic redraft of the government’s energy policy.
The debate over the National Energy Guarantee has drawn some comments that it could be a test of Malcolm Turnbull’s leadership.
Mr Dutton’s reference to his remarks on Thursday confirms his belief that he would have to step down from the cabinet and the ministry if he could not support the government’s energy plan or other policies.
