The Minister for Home Affairs, Peter Dutton, asked the Joint Standing Committee on Migration to inquire into and report on the review processes associated with visa cancellations made on criminal grounds. Submissions to the inquiry have now been published.
Oz Kiwi’s submission focused on the Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT) merit review process, and the treatment of New Zealand citizens detained in immigration detention as a consequence of having their visa cancelled under section 501 the Migration Act 1958.
The Joint Standing Committee on Migration has published 34 submissions, including Oz Kiwi’s.
