Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has arrived in Australia ahead of talks with her Australian counterpart Malcolm Turnbull.

Ardern brought five government ministers across with her to Australia – plus Foreign Minister Winston Peters, who flew ahead for a major foreign policy speech on Thursday and Economic Development Minister David Parker, who also went early.

But most of the domestic attention will likely focus on whether Ardern can budge Australia’s deportee policy, which has detained hundreds of Kiwi expats. Australia’s hardline policy has resulted in criminals with Kiwi ancestry being deported to New Zealand, even if they have never set foot in the country.
