The proposed citizenship changes will not be implemented after the Citizenship Amendment Bill was struck down by the Senate today. Oz Kiwi can now confirm that current citizenship law applies.


Anyone wanting to track the progress of the proposed citizenship changes can check on the Parliament website, however there is a way to go with this.

The Citizenship Amendment Bill was referred for inquiry to the Senate Legal and Constitutional Affairs Legislation Committee on 22nd June 2017.

The Committee’s report is due 4 September 2017 then the Bill will be debated in the House of Representatives later this year.
