A big thank you to those who lodged a submission in relation to Australian Citizenship Legislation (Strengthening Requirements) and Other Measures Bill.
We’ll provide an update of the next step once we have that information to hand.
It has come to our attention that there has been very low number of submissions so far in relation to the Citizenship Amendment Bill.
To be very blunt, from our point of view this is very disappointing and may backfire on our hard work to date. If we do not all come together on this issue, and speak up as a collective voice, all the complaining people do will become a self-fulling prophecy.
We have seven days to do all we can to stop this Bill. Submissions close on 21 July 2017. It is not law – but If we do not work together, it will most likely become law.
A particular politician has let it be known that the lack of submissions (to date) will effectively (rightly or wrongly) tell politicians that the public support it. Politicians generally vote in favour of issues where they believe there is public support. Why? Because of votes.
We are doing everything we can to stop this Bill and ask that you help yourselves, and fellow Oz Kiwi’s. If even half or quarter of our supporters made a submission it would make a huge impact and send a clear very strong and clear message to Canberra.
You don’t need to be a great writer, or have any legal or political knowledge, all you need to do is speak to your situation. All you have to do is answer one question: How will the changes impact you or your family.
That may be a half page submission, a one page submission or a 10 page submission, whatever you want, just don’t swear or use vulgar language.
Find out how to make your submission.
