The Citizenship Amendment Bill was first tabled in the Lower House on 15 June 2017.

The Senate Legal and Constitutional Affairs Committee are conducting an inquiry into the Citizenship Amendment Bill with a report due on 4 September 2017.

The earliest the Senate can either block it or pass it, in late September or sometime in October 2017. In our view it’s more likely to be November 2017 given the process, or longer if the Minister wishes to drag it out.

We do not have any other information about the Citizenship Amendment Bill at this stage.
