Senator Roberts’ comments are some of the nuttiest we’ve ever seen on the issue of trans-Tasman migration.

His suggestion that rights should be stripped from New Zealanders in Australia as a form of punishment for New Zealand taking a particular foreign policy position is offensive and patronising. It shows utter contempt for Kiwis in Australia and for New Zealand’s rights as a sovereign nation.

His comments are, frankly, pathetic.

Significantly, they also contradict his own party’s position on New Zealanders in Australia.

We encourage you to let Senator Roberts know how you feel about his comments. Remember to be polite.

You might also want alert his party’s leader Pauline Hanson to his unfortunate freelancing and ask her to pull this joker back into line.
