Pacific Islanders and education in Australia

An article by Lesley Chenoweth, an academic at Griffith University, looks at the issue of accessing higher education for Pacifika New Zealanders in Queensland. It was first published in The Conversation in February 2014.

In November 2015 the HECS amendment was passed, meaning that from January 2016 a small number of New Zealanders can now access student loans. They must have arrived in Australia as a dependent minor and resided here for ten years to be eligible.
